DESIGNING FOR GEN-Z
Objective
“For this assignment, you will do further research into the psychographic profile and purchase drivers of the Gen Z consumer. You will focus on what you believe to be the key purchase drivers (i.e. sustainability, social causes, etc.) and develop a concept or product that you believe will have the greatest opportunity to succeed. You will also identify the retailer and/or e-commerce platforms where you would launch your line.
Empathy
As a cusper of Gen Z I feel that I have accurate observations of the cohort from life but also don’t relate to them as well because I find myself resonating more with millennials. However I do believe that one of Gen Z’s main drivers when it comes to action is the importance of community. The digital natives grew up to access the internet communities which have fueled the rise of social media like TikTok and Instagram today. Gen Z also values sustainability growing up in an era where climate change was a central point of discussion. The next decades will be central to their lives as they are aware that they will suffer the consequences of the previous generation’s lack of regard for the issue. Lastly I do really believe that Gen Z is interested in the shift of product value being driven by service. Gen Z buys into services and products that add value to their lives in substantial ways
problem definition
A good product for this cohort will aid them in their lifestyle which promotes convenience and seamless ease. While doing this it would be helpful to touch on the values sustainability, self care, and community. Gen-Z desires a product that adds convenience, synergy, and aid in building a lifestyle that flows seamlessly.

I took one of my ideas, the Smart Stand to the next level by creating a 3D prototype which helped me to exercise more design thinking and flesh out the product some more.
